Kristin Cavallari‘s youngest child — and only daughter — may not even be a year old yet, but the mom of three already has a plan for when she approaches those tumultuous teenage years.
“I have such a great relationship with my mom that I’m so excited to, hopefully, have that same relationship with my daughter,” the blogger and former reality star tells PEOPLE Now of whether she’s excited to bond with daughter Saylor James, 10 months, when she gets older.
“Not the teenage years — I know what I was like,” she clarifies. “I don’t think we’re gonna be friends until she’s like 22, 23. I’m pretty sure that’s when I came around with my mom.”
Cavallari — who also shares sons Jaxon Wyatt, 2, and Camden Jack, 4, with her Chicago Bears quarterback husband Jay Cutler — mentions it’s difficult to raise a daughter nowadays considering the influence of social media, but that she’s not afraid because she’s been there, done that.
“I’m lucky that I have a few more years to figure out how I’m gonna navigate all that,” says Cavallari, 29. “I know for sure she won’t be able to get anything by me because everything she’ll be doing, I already did.”

Although Cavallari — whose book Balancing in Heels debuted earlier this year — wants to raise a daughter she can be close with, she also has one very specific wish in mind for the person her youngest child becomes.
“I just want to raise a confident girl. I just want her to know that she doesn’t need to be sending naked pictures and doing all that stuff — I’m definitely going to monitor everything,” she says. “I want to raise her to know that she can go do whatever she wants in life and to be comfortable in her own skin, which I think also just comes with age and time.”
The proud mom of three explains that her little girl is just learning to walk, which is “so exciting,” and that the family is gearing up to celebrate her first birthday next month with a low-key, family-only affair around Thanksgiving — an event that will no doubt warrant a lot of photo-taking opportunities.
“I have a scrapbook for all [my children],” she says. “I’m constantly writing down notes, and it’s fun to go back and look at them. My mom did that for my brother and [me], so it’s cool to read. I have to add that in — her taking her steps for the first time.”
Cavallari says Saylor has already made a huge impact on the family in the short time she’s been around.
“She has a very calm, mellow energy, and so she’s really changed the energy throughout the house,” she says. “And I think for the boys, too, it’s great to have a little girl around, and everyone loves it.”
The big question: How does she think Saylor will handle having three guys looking out for her at all times as she gets older?
“Between Jay as a dad and then two older brothers, any guy she dates has no chance,” she jokes.
