Fans of the Netflix hit series Narcos are in luck! The third season finally has a date and trailer. The world premiere will take place on September 1st with a plot that will surely leave an impact on its viewers.
Following the death of Pablo Escobar last season, fans of the crime series were left to wonder where the story would go next. Well, Netflix has revealed the answer. The show will shift its focus to the history of Escobar’s successors: the Cali Cartel, the richest drug trafficking organization in the world.
American and Colombian law enforcement will come together this season as they try to take down a cartel that runs differently from Escobar’s business with obscurity and government bribery.
“Cocaine cartels are about succession,” says Javier Peña—played by Pedro Pascal—in the trailer. “While the whole world was focused on Escobar, Cali became the biggest cocaine cartel in history.”
As the attention turns to a new group of drug lords, new characters will come into play while some familiar faces return to continue the suspense and action of Colombia’s drug trade. Some of the new players that will bring the Cali Cartel story to life include actors Miguel Angel Silvestre, Francisco Denis, Alberto Ammann and Pepe Rapazote.
Peña returns as the main character but without the help of his partner from the last two seasons—who was also the narrator—Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook). Instead, new DEA agents Chris Fesitl (Michael Stahl-David) and Daniel Van Ness (Matt Whelan) will become a part of the operations.
“This time around, all rules have changed for the narcos and their opponents – a fact many won’t realize until it’s too late,” said Netflix.
