Yes, the Beauty Looks at the Oscars Afterparties Were Every Bit As Lustworthy as at the Main Event

We’ve already waxed poetic about the gorgeous beauty looks from the Academy Awards, but now it’s time to shed some light on the hair and makeup moments from the second half of the night — at the Oscars afterparties!

Anne Hathaway Oscars afterparty hair lookGetty (2)

Mom-to-be Anne Hathaway arrived to the Vanity Fair afterparty wearing a long-sleeve black-and-gold embellished Naeem Khan caftan. And celebrity hairstylist Anh Co Tran for L’Oréal Professionnel helped her play up the exotic glamour of the gown with a long, slightly undone braid. But wait, the actress has shoulder-length hair. How did she go from short bob to a waist-length plait? Luckily, Co Tran spilled all of the details on the do, exclusively with PeopleStyle.

“The inspiration for Anne’s hair came from her gown — we were influenced by the ’70s vibe,” he tells PeopleStyle. “I added extensions to create a nice, full ponytail and secured it by pinning down the inner lengths.”

To get the braided style, the hair pro sprayed L’Oréal Professionnel Next Day Hair from the roots to the ends to prime the star’s strands for extensions. Next, he added in extra length via several inches of extensions.

Co Tran then took a section of hair horizontally from the crown to the top of both ears, creating two separate sections and pulling each into its own ponytail. With the top half, he then twisted in an “inverted French braid” to the bottom of the ponytail, repeated the same process with the second half and connected the two plaits together and secured with an elastic. The hair pro then sprayed in L’Oréal Professionnel Crépage de Chignon to give the style a “gritty texture,” and sealed the look with L’Oréal Professionnel Fix Design Spray for hold.

Selena Gomez Oscars afterparty beauty lookGetty

For the same afterparty, Selena Gomez selected a slinky silver Louis Vuitton column gown with grommet accents down the center, which required an equally edgy beauty look. Enter in the singer’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo, who gave Gomez a shimmery silver smoky eye that winged out into the shape of a classic cat eye.

As for the star’s hair, celebrity hairstylist Lona Vigi kept Gomez’s tresses sleek and simple, opting for an undone style with a clean center part.

Olivia Munn Oscars afterparty beauty lookGetty

And lastly, Olivia Munn changed out of her sleek orange Stella McCartney number for a super-sexy forest green J. Mendel design with allover beading post-show, which meant a new makeup look was needed!

To keep with the beauty theme of the night (monochromatic makeup!), the actress’s beauty pro Patrick Ta swiped off Munn’s bright red-orange lip and replaced it with a nude gloss, then added a rim of tonal green eyeliner on her lower lash line to pair with her subtle bronze smoky eye. She then traded her low bun for a playful pony and was ready to hit the dance floor.
