What Kristen Stewart's Stylist Really Thinks About Her Changing Into Sneakers on the Red Carpet

What happens when comfort is top priority, but you have a red carpet to walk? For Kristen Stewart, it means changing out of high heels and into sneakers as soon as humanly possible.

Stewart's been switching to worn-in tennis shoes since back when the first Twilight film premiered in 2008. But what does her stylist, Tara Swennen, think of it?

By now, she's resigned and, what's more, she understands. "I'm always happy to oblige [the shoe change]. She goes through a lot of pain, so at this point, if she's comfortable, I'm happy,” Swennen, who has been styling Stewart, 26, for 11 years, tells Us Weekly exclusively. "We start with a beautiful heel, and then comfort is key for all of us. I love it — it's her thing now!”

Most recently, the Café Society star, who keeps Converse, Keds, Vans and more styles in her sneaker rotation, changed from her Christian Louboutin heels into denim lace-ups on May 17 at the Cannes Film Festival 2016 premiere of her film Personal Shopper. Both shoes complemented her white, avant garde Chanel Cruise minidress.

She also paired a Swarovski-embellished dress by Marios Schwab with a pair of checkerboard Vans slip-ons while putting her handprints on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November 2011. And she rocked an embellished romper at the American Ultra premiere in August 2015 while going completely barefoot (and switching to sneakers later).

Even though the Chanel ambassador has stayed true to her kicks throughout the years, the rest of her style is constantly in flux. "I think her aesthetic changes every month! She loves to play with fashion," Swennen, who also works with Caitriona Balfe and Emily Ratakjowski, says. "She's always open to new things. … She's a fashion chameleon. It's ever-changing, and that's why we have the best of times together."

What do you think of K-Stew's sneaker obsession?
