We've all flipped through fashion magazines only to find out that we must choose a body label in order to get the appropriate style advice. Pear-shaped? Go for A-line silhouettes. Curvy? Emphasize that bust. Petite? Don't even think about maxi skirts.
So we gathered a few ladies in the industry to discuss if these assigned body types are doing more harm than good on HuffPost Live (watch the clip above). Naturally, the conversation brought out many different viewpoints.
"It's good to be aware of all the shapes out there," model Jada Sezer said. "It's really insightful and it can help people that don't know how to style themselves. But at the same time, I hate being labeled ... I shouldn't have to feel like there's a rule I have to abide by. Fashion is self-expression, so you should be able to wear whatever you want."
