Animal shelters are one the of the few places where vacancies are good for business.
Going by this model, KC Pet Project is having a great day. The Kansas City, Missouri, animal organization, which is dedicated to pulling animals from kill shelters, just completed the Kansas City Mega Match, a weekend-long adoption event with local shelters. KC Pet Project adopted out 281 pets between Oct. 7-9, shattering its numbers from the previous year.
Exhausted but enthusiastic, the shelter’s staff and volunteers decided to celebrate the success. Left with oodles of extra cages, the workers climbed into the vacant pens to give people an idea of just how many lives were saved. KC Pet Project posted a video of the moment to Facebook, along with a message to the staff, volunteers and loving families who made this possible. The heartwarming clip now has over 303,000 views, and dozens of comments from the adopters sharing photos of their new pets.
The best news about 281 animals finding forever families? KC Pet Project now has 281 new safe spaces for pets caught in kill shelters hoping for a new start.
