Fall is here, which means we’re going to see a lull in fringe and florals, and the return of (faux) fur and … feathers?! Believe it or not, the somewhat hippie-chic embellishment is taking the red carpet by storm in surprisingly sophisticated ways.
Last week at the Beauty in Wonderland Exhibition in Milan, Cate Blanchett commanded our attention in this Prabal Gurung design featuring a full skirt of red and white feathers.

Then Monday, Mischa Barton attempted to stage her style comeback carrying a clutch adorned with layers of long, wispy plumes to offset her more severe dress at the Metropolitan Opera gala in N.Y.C.
And on Tuesday night, Pippa Middleton made her grand return to the red carpet (at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery event in London) in a royal-blue Matthew Williamson dress comprised of an embellished neckline, plus blue and peach ostrich feathers around the hemline.
What do you think of feather-embellished pieces? Would you try the trend or is it too over the top?
