Everyone loves a good braided hairstyle in the summer — especially celebrities. So there’s never a shortage of plait inspiration. And this past weekend, stars went beyond the simple side fishtail for a few fancier looks. Now it’s time to talk about them.

Kim Kardashian eschewed her signature glossy, wavy blowout for “kornrow” braids along her hairline with a braided headband vibe. The occasion? Riccardo Tisci’s yacht birthday bash in Ibiza. (And it was only the second way she fêted her designer BFF for his birthday — who could forget this situation?) She paired the look with a long black silk gown and dramatic danglers.

Selena Gomez went a bit more old-school, going for reverse French braid pigtails in Studio City, Calif., on Sunday. And she kept the look edgy with a crop top, leather moto jacket and some harem pants. And last (but certainly not least) join the braid brigade: Miley Cyrus added what appears to be a braided hair extension twisted into a very ’90s-inpsired bun, while out in Philadelphia. (Very Madonna of her, we’d say.)
