Fashion lovers are oft guilty of foregoing sensibility when it comes to dressing appropriately for the weather. Not a winter goes by without an open-toed shoe sighting, regardless of how frigid the temperatures might be.
French label Courrèges has put a bit more sense into winter dressing with the debut of its newest collection during Paris Fashion Week. Amongst the mini-dresses and tailored suits were three very chic, self-heating wool coats.
According to The New York Times, the coats (which were presented in black, pink, and black and white checkered) heat up in the back, shoulders and pockets and are charged using an iPhone cable.
Courrèges designers Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant told the AFP that we are now in "an era when the garment will come alive." And while that might sound a bit sci-fi horror movie-esque, generating heat with the touch of a button does sound pretty darn appealing, especially for those cold commutes.
"Who has never dreamt of being warm in the winter?" they asked.
They're certainly not the first self-heating garments to hit the market, but they sure are the most beautiful.
