For years I have boasted about not owning a single pair of ballet flats, which almost always triggers a jaw-to-the-floor response. But what people don’t realize — perhaps because I neglect to include this information — is that while I may not wear ballet slippers, I practically live in flat boots all throughout fall and winter. Even with a towering collection of heels, I still regularly turn to flat-soled boots for my day-to-night-to-day looks because I’ve never found anything quite so comfortable and versatile.
These Scotia Lace boots by Sorel are just the kind of style staple I covet during the cooler months as they can easily transition from daytime casual to nighttime (comfortable) fun. For a daytime look I opted for an outfit that was functional with an edge, pairing the lace up boots with light skinny jeans, a basic white t-shirt and a plaid shirt tied around my waist to add some proportion to an otherwise streamlined silhouette. For my nighttime look I went with black skinny jeans — a go-to for when I’m trying to dress things up — a silk button down, a menswear inspired blazer and a beaded clutch to add some femininity. On top of all that I also decided to wear the same plaid shirt from my daytime look around my waist as an additional “accessory” to compliment the boots and bag. -By Sonia Evers
