Tavi Gevinson sleeps until about noon these days. Though only 18, she’s already had a full life as a fashion blogger and founded the influential site
Rookie; now, she spends most nights of the week on Broadway starring in This Is Our Youth with Michael Cera.
“When I wake up, I try and stretch. I’m usually weirdly too impatient for it," she says. "I shower and I brush my teeth in the shower to save time, and
then I pick out my outfit and do my makeup unless I’m not really doing anything that day, and then I don’t really do anything until I go to the theater and get into costume."
Sometimes, she feels the real battle is escaping the house with minimal self-loathing. “I have a note on my full-length mirror that says, ‘There is not enough time for hating yourself. Too many things to make. Go.’ You’re with your body your whole life, so it is pretty easy to get sick of it or to look in the mirror too long and become really critical. In a way, when I’m feeling bad about my body I decide it is not personal. It doesn’t have to do with me as a person or as a friend, or an editor or writer or actress.”
