For its new Vintage Vanguard collection, Moda Operandi sent an array of American designers into the personal closets of notorious vintage mavens Karen Elson and Liz Goldwyn. Participating designers — including Francisco Costa, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Olivier Theyskens, Jason Wu, and Eddie Borgo — selected pieces from Karen and Liz’s wardrobes, which they then reworked to create one-of-a-kind designs. The resulting collection ranges from a bright yellow Atelier Swarovski crystal-adorned jumper by Suno to a butterfly-print sundress from Creatures of the Wind, and features a whole lot of lace. Proceeds from the customized pieces, which will go on sale on Moda Operandi on January 6, will benefit Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit that provides career development tools and professional attire to disadvantaged women.
