The VMAs white carpet had plenty of skin-baring numbers to keep you entertained from all angles. Then stars kept things interesting with their quick change skills swapping outfit after outfit inside the show. Beyoncé’s five outfit changes were almost as impressive as her 15 minute Lemonade medley (we said almost!). But because there’s never a limit to how many outfits a celebrity can don in one evening, there were some stars who pulled out one last change to hit up the afterparty scene. Check out Rihanna’s fringe jumpsuit, Ariana Grande’s casual denim overalls and more!
First up is the star of the show, Rihanna. She was honored with the Video Vanguard Award in a love-filled ode from Drake and attended the afterparty with the rapper in tow in her fifth outfit of the night — a bright green fringe-adorned jumpsuit with a matching jewel choker necklace and pointy-toe pumps. It’s by far her most comfortable and pared-down look of the evening after her knee-less chaps, fur-trimmed bra, thigh-high boots and a bomber jacket-ball gown combo during her four separate performances throughout the night.
Next up, Hailee Steinfeld and Ariana Grande, who both went super low-key for their afterparty festivities. Steinfeld changed from her multicolor Balmain mini to a low-cut long-sleeve ruffled blouse with wide-leg trouser. And Grande went progressively more casual as the night went on. She walked the carpet in a skin-baring Alexander Wang ruffled crop top and wide-leg pant, wore a sporty pink outfit on stage and ended the night in a very ’90s ensemble of light-wash denim overalls, black boots and ribbon choker, but throughout it all, she kept that tricolor ombré pony in tact.
And last but not least, Laverne Cox who managed two outfit changes in one afterparty! She stepped out on the red carpet in an ultra-sexy multi-cutout bodysuit with high-waisted skirt (we spot over six cutouts alone on her woufit!). And as the night went on, decided to ditch her skirt and rock the bodysuit solo for a true mic drop outfit moment.
