In our weekly search of what we’re seeing sizzle (and fizzle) on the red carpet, we saw a whole lotta spots, a wide range of fashion-forward clutches and denim cutoffs that were a bit too tattered for a formal affair.
Up: Spots: If Sarah Jessica Parker and Duchess Catherine are wearing spotted prints, it’s only a matter of time until the rest of Hollywood catches on. SJP stepped out in N.Y.C. wearing a black-and-white polka dot number, and Kate chose a spotted Hobbs coat dress for an event in London. Rashida Jones also had a spot-on moment in this black-and-white printed Proenza Schouler mini.
Up: Cool clutches: Stars stepped up their accessory game this week, especially in the handbag department. Aside from Jessica Chastain’s bronze Lanvin dress, we also fell in love with her metal clutch and it’s chic geometric clasp. Other notable moments: Kourtney Kardashian’s leopard add-on and Sophia Bush’s rhinestone stunner.
Down: Shredded cutoffs as formal wear: Denim shorts are definitely a summer wardrobe staple. But Ashley Tisdale‘s overly-shredded pair, that she sported at the Myspace event in L.A., is better suited for the beach (or even a low-key brunch with friends!), not the red carpet. We much preferred Dianna Agrons’s summer-ready separates for the evening fête.
