Look, it's no surprise that some of those old classic TV shows aren't perfect. I recently had the "Wow, Friends is sometimes extremely offensive and poorly structured" post-binge revelation. But you'd think the ratings on these favorites would at least be fairly decent. Welp, step aside for the patriarchy, who according to FiveThirtyEight, has decided to add its own opinion to the mix.
The nearly vintage network elites such as Sex and the City get an average IMDB rating of 8.1 from women, and an underwhelming 5.8 from men. But it turns out that seventy percent of show ratings are from dudes, so women's fave shows tank on the site, despite the high scores in there.
Even if a show displays a skewed audience, men somehow dominate with the vote. Only 75 percent of votes for women-skewed shows are actually from women viewers, while 94 percent of the votes for dude shows come from men.
So, either dudes are more likely to sit around in their briefs and express their opinions on the internet in lieu of actually living life. Or the patriarchy is, once again, just too much. Probably both.
