Olivia Newton-John and daughter Chloe Lattanzi are in a good place.
The singer and iconic Grease star tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue that despite all they’ve been through over the years, their bond is now better than ever.
“We have a great relationship now,” says Newton-John. “[Chloe’s] going to release music she made 10 years ago that she wasn’t ready to put out, and it’s really powerful. She’s ready to talk about stuff in her life because she’s moved past it.”
Nearly a decade ago, Newton-John’s daughter with ex-husband Matt Lattanzi made headlines when it was revealed she was recovering from anorexia. In 2013 Lattanzi opened up about her personal struggles, revealing a history of abusing drugs. At that time she gave an interview saying, “I don’t blame my mother for my problems, but I would never want to be famous or raise a child around the cult of celebrity.”

Lattanzi’s upcoming music “is from the time when she was having some struggles,” says Newton-John. Now, she says, “She’s strong. My daughter is happy and healthy. She’s the spokesperson for a line of pants called Equestrian, doing a lot of things that she loves to do. I’m very proud of her.”
And the star, 68, who just released her own inspirational new album LIV ON, is eager to become mother of the bride. “She’s been engaged for a couple of years now,” says Newton-John of Lattanzi and fiancé James Driskill. “It would be fun to plan a wedding.”
