Earlier this week, Maggie Gyllenhaal told the Cut that she’s been offered too many unrealistic female characters to keep track of. Now, she says she's been turned down for roles on the basis of her age, too. In an interview with the Wrap, Gyllenhaal, who is 37, said that she was recently told she was too old to play the lover of a 55-year-old man. “There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time,” she said. “It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh.”
