There are probably a lot of fun things about playing Cinderella in a live-action remake of the beloved Disney fairytale, but we’d say the one we’re most partial to is the fact that you get to dress up like a literal princess for the premiere of your movie in every city. And after regal showings in Berlin, Moscow and Milan, Lily James pulled out all the stops for L.A.

The star selected an aqua green gown (reminiscent of the famous blue in the animated film) from Elie Saab, embroidered all over with silk threads and sequins. Diamonds from Kwiat sparkled at her ears and fingers, and she carried a plexiglass “Time Piece” clock-theme clutch (showing two minutes until midnight!) from the designer’s Cinderella capsule collection. And though she’s worn the specially-made designer “glass slippers” to previous premieres, this time she wore glittering Christian Louboutins topped with a butterfly. (Her “evil stepmother” Cate Blanchett went more simple, but equally chic!)
Her beauty look was equally elegant: A low side-parted chignon framed her face, which was fresh and glowing with the help of makeup artist Jenn Streicher. She gave the star dewy, bright skin with the help of Kate Somerville’s Quench Hydrating Face Serum and IllumiKate Concealing Eye Cream, then gave her a blushing cheek with Nars “Gaiety” and a glamorous cat eye using Troy Surratt’s liquid liner. Her pretty pink lip was courtesy Nars’s “Villa Lante” satin pencil. “It’s a beauty look fit for a princess!” Streicher says, and it’s hard to argue with that!
So is James getting the princess treatment in real life? She definitely is getting the adulation of little girls everywhere, à la Princess Kate. “They’ve got my dress on and their little glass slippers and they’re like ‘Can I see your shoes?’ It’s so cute. It makes my heart burst out of my chest,” she says. And though the dress is adorable on her young fans, it was less fun in real life. “The blue dress I definitely wanted to take off because it’s really uncomfortable,” she says. “It’s really heavy and quite tight and really sort of — I couldn’t sit down. So, there was a lot of problems with the dress but it was worth every second because it was so beautiful.”
