Justin Bieber Stays With His Grandma During Scottish Leg of Purpose World Tour

Justin Bieber has taken the pop singer tour rider in an entirely new direction.

While other stars demand all manner of crazy items in their changing rooms and hotels, the 22-year-old Canadian opted for something distinctly down-to-earth during the Scottish leg of his Purpose world tour: the company of his grandma.

The singer’s maternal grandmother, Diane Dale, joined the singer at his rental home of Kinross House in Perthshire over the weekend and was seen touring the grounds of the palatial 17th-century estate in a distinctive leopard print coat with leather sleeves.

Bieber played three shows at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow during the course of Dale’s stay and her calming influence appears to have paid dividends, with the 22-year-old stopping mid-show to explain why he abruptly dropped his mic and walked off stage during a show in Manchester on Sunday Oct. 23.

“People tend to want to shut you down. What I mean by that is … people try to twist things. Some people don’t want to listen,” Bieber told the crowd in a video posted to his Facebook page.

“But I simply feel like, if I didn’t use this platform to say how I truly feel, and if I didn’t use this platform to be the man that I know I am, and speak from what’s in my heart, then I’m doing myself injustice, and I’m not doing anybody in this audience any justice.”

After the show, Bieber continued this low-key theme with a quick visit to the Blue Dog cocktail bar, where a staffer tells PEOPLE “he was just walking around, quite chilled-out.”

This was followed by some traditional deep fried haggis — a combination of sheep heart, liver, and lungs minced with onion, oatmeal, spices, stock and salt — and a side of fries at the Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips.

Yet the Scottish leg of Bieber’s world tour wasn’t entirely without incident. Even with grannie inhabiting his 14-bedroom rental — which has it’s very own whiskey library — the singer still found time to run around the grounds in nothing more than a pair of white boxers.

Bieber was also spotted driving a golf buggy and enjoying a misty boat trip to a historic island castle on Loch Leven — the one time prison of Mary Queen of Scots.
