In the very last installment of Julianne Hough‘s style diary for PEOPLE, we got the full scoop on the DTWS judge’s shimmering white finale gown and those perfectly beachy waves straight from her glam squad, hairstylist Riawna Capri and stylist Anita Patrickson.

“For the final show we wanted to go out with a bang!” Patrickson tells PEOPLE. “This beaded white sexy number from Lorena Sarbu was the perfect pairing for a white-hot finale!”
Plus, it matched her amazing summer glow. “Jules is so gorgeously tanned, that the white really popped against her skin and looked amazing on camera,” Patrickson explains. “And the allover beading was perfect for the occasion! As soon as she put it on, Jules and I knew it was the perfect dress to end Season 20!.”
And Hough was right on board. “As you might have guessed by now, I love wearing white! It’s so chic and clean and there are so many ways to play it,” the judge (who did her own makeup for the show) tells PEOPLE. “This beaded gown was the perfect finish to a fabulous season!”

To go out with a bnag, Patrickson added some megawatt jewels (this is the finale of DWTS, after all) with some vintage Neil Lane jewelry. “We paired the dress with gorgeous chandelier earrings and two statement rings in a blush pink tone to keep the feel of the look soft and romantic.”
Hairstylist Capri had to keep Hough’s finale performance in mind when working the final hairstyle. “Since Jules was dancing tonight, we felt like her hair down and a little disheveled was best for her performance,” she explains. “We decided to go with the traditional staple of ‘The Julianne’ style with textured waves, a ton of Unite Beach Spray and Unite Expanda Dust to maintain volume and thickness. Her heartfelt dance really looked best with the hair flying from side to side. And what better way to end the season with ‘The Julianne’ special?”

But she spills that the iconic “Jules” look is really more of a collaboration. “I feel lucky to have such a beautiful, fun, daring, unafraid-to-do-something-unique, canvas to work on. Jules really allows me to step outside the box and create something different week by week,” Capri says. “But I can’t take all the credit! She has ideas in her head that she wants to produce, and really puts my skills to the test. And 98 percent of the time it’s a good idea.”
