When Jane Fonda Tweeted in celebration of her W Magazine cover, I was in disbelief. Yes, the 77 year-old seems practically ageless, impossibly glamorous and poised in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture, but that's not what stunned me. After Fonda's appearance on the Grammys red carpet in Balmain - and now eight episodes into her new Netflix show - I'm not at all surprised to see the legendary actress looking so #flawless. The real shocker was learning that she's the oldest woman ever to grace the cover of W.

Her record-setting cover is certainly one to be celebrated, but not without pause. It catches me off guard: what happens to us when we age? You won't often find women like Joni Mitchell, Lauren Hutton, Diane Keaton, and Lily Tomlin covering your favorite magazines or strutting the red carpet. But I wish we did. I wish there were more women who looked like our moms and grandmothers popping up in movies and all over social media. I wish we sent more messages that beauty isn't exclusive to 20-somethings. So, while I'm proud to see the nearly 80 year-old Fonda looking fiercely gorgeous on W's most brilliant cover - I simply want more of it.
