Country music super couple Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood announced on Facebook Live Monday that a joint holiday album is in the works.
The couple, who have been married for 10 years, said this was the first duet album they’ve done together, according to Brooks.
“It was an absolute joy to go with this woman into the studio,” Brooks said of Yearwood. “Very rarely do you get to stand across from her and really just go at it, right there, audio wise, look at each other and sing. This was an entire record of getting to do that.”
The duo released the album cover of the “Christmas Together” on Instagram.
“We took four photos, and one of them came back and it was just pure magic,” Brooks said.
The couple also showed footage of their Orlando, Florida concert, sending their love to the Pulse shooting victims and the fans of Christina Grimmie, who passed away in the city after a performance earlier this summer.
Yearwood sung “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for the Orlando crowd, saying that it’s not usually a song she sings.
“To see the community come together, to see the strength and the love, has been amazing,” she said. “When we knew we were going to go to Orlando, I just wanted to make sure that the people of Orlando knew that we still think about them every day.”
Brooks also talked about his favorite song on their new duets album, sung by Yearwood. “What Are You Doing on New Year’s Eve?” was originally intended as a duet, but as Brooks explains, he was stunned by his wife’s singing while in the studio.
“When she sings that first verse, I leave. I leave the studio,” he joked.
The album’s first single comes out on Oct. 13, and the album comes out Nov. 11.
