Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. A looming scheduling conflict this spring is already causing anxiety in the fanciest of circles: Chanel's cruise show in Seoul, part of its globe-trotting show plan for 2015, takes place on May 4, the same day as the Met Ball. Whatever will the terminally posh do?
Women's Wear Daily contacted the Chanel powers-that-be to discuss this thorny question. A spokesperson pronounced the scheduling "extremely difficult," explaining, "We had committed to bringing our cruise collection to our Korean clients and May 4 was the only possible date. Chanel is very much dedicated to supporting the Anna Wintour Costume Institute Benefit this year as we always have. We greatly respect the incredible contributions Anna Wintour and The Metropolitan Museum of Art have made toward the preservation, education and celebration of the art of fashion, and are proud to be a supporter of this important institution.”
Meanwhile, the only member of the jet set not quaking in their Céline boots about whether it's better to incur the wrath of Anna or stand up the Met Ball crowd in favor of Karl is probably ... Karl himself. Knowing his ways, we wouldn't put it past him to clone himself for the big day.
