Emma Watson Goes Old-School Glam for a Good Cause

Courtesy NET-A-PORTER.COM

Emma Watson may not see herself as a fashionista, but we can’t imagine anyone else doing justice to the gorgeous, custom and eco-friendly designer creations the star rocks in Net-a-Porter’s latest edition of The Edit.

The star was picked by Colin Firth’s wife Livia to showcase the results of the Green Carpet Challenge, an initiative that calls upon designers to create ethical, eco-friendly couture. Firth asked five British designers to create two green pieces each for Net-a-Porter, then asked Watson to model the creations. And to hear Watson tell it, she didn’t hesitate — fear of “fashionista” label or not.

“I was like, ‘No one’s doing anything like this!’ It’s so exciting,” Watson says in the editorial. “I’ve always had this huge problem. I would love to wear garments that are ethically sourced, but there aren’t enough options for me to be able to do that realistically.”

In the top image, she smolders in a $2,110 silk-satin Christopher Kane dress that’s already sold out and sparkling Brian Atwood sandals; in the above image on the left, she wears an elegant Roland Mouret gown, and on the right she gives good glamour in a zip-back Victoria Beckham dress made entirely in Italy to cut down on emissions.

And this isn’t Watson’s first foray into eco-friendly fashion; she’s designed small, green capsule collections for People Tree and Alberta Ferretti. “I don’t do anything by halves,” she says. “I have to go all in. I just want things to be perfect. If I’m going to put my name on it, I want it to be something I love.”

So do you love Watson’s shoot as much as we do? Tell us about it in the comments, and be sure to check out the entire story at Net-a-Porter.com.
