Dolly Parton has weighed in on the great Eva Mendes sweatpants debate, and of course her stance on baggy cotton loungewear is exactly what we expected — totally amazing.

When asked about Mendes’s comment that sweatpants lead to divorce, Parton told the hosts of Fox & Friends: “I don’t think I’ll be getting a divorce anytime soon because I either wear tight pants or no pants.”
The country icon, who was on the show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her Tennessee theme park Dollywood, added that after close to 50 years with her husband Carl Dean, the couple still know how to keep the spark alive in their marriage.
“I’ve been married for 48 years, and I try to always fix up for him,” Parton shared. “I don’t want to go home and just be a slouch for him. We really have a good time. We plan our special little things, but we’re very comfortable with each other also, so if we did wear sweatpants that be okay.”

Mendes’s boyfriend took to Twitter to defend his girlfriend (and mother of his daughter Esmerelda), explaining that she was clearly just joking around.
“Obviously sweatpants thing was a joke. Wearing them now. That’s right, tweeting in sweatpants. Rats! Said too much! You win again Twitter,” Gosling Tweeted.
And now that Parton has spoken, maybe this will be the end of any controversy. What’s your stance on sweatpants? Do you love Dolly’s reaction? Sound off below.
