While the Kardashian family typically makes headlines for stripping down, this time one of them is under fire for covering up. During her trip to Dubai, Khloé Kardashian took to Instagram to share a picture of herself wearing a niqab, a traditionally Muslim cloth that covers the wearer's face, captioning the photo "Habibi Love" (which, loosely translated, means my baby or my darling love). Many followers and users were not pleased with the snap, sounding off in the comments section and disapproving of her fashion choice.
"So the family down the street from me gets verbally attacked by the school district for sending their children to school wearing this and you get praises for your eyes," one comment said. "This is a sad, sad country we live in." The positive comments, which were few and far between, either complimented the star's looks or commended her for respecting the culture. "She's in Dubai and that's the appropriate thing to wear," a user reminded everyone.
This isn't the first time a member of this family has visited Dubai and opted to wear traditional clothing. Kendall Jenner rang in 2015 there and posed alongside Gigi Hadid in a sheer, sparkly hijab - a photo that was met with little criticism. So what's different this time around? Is one more offensive than the other? Read on to see the photos, then let us know your thoughts in the included poll.
