Introducing the unexpected Emmys hair trend of 2013: ponytails. Lots of stars chose to skip the more traditional bun approach and opt for a dressier version of everyone’s go-to childhood ‘do.
Let’s start with Heidi Klum‘s ‘do. Her blonde locks are pulled back into a very grown-up-looking ponytail that’s almost as eye-catching as her dazzling magenta Versace gown.
Kiernan Shipka, meanwhile, opted for a more youth-inspired look, choosing to position her ponytail higher on her head and tease her locks to amp up the volume. Her young, sassy take on the hairstyle also matches her fun, colorful tea-length Delpozo gown with floral embellishment.

And finally, Amy Poehler went for straight elegance with her ponytail approach. She wears it low in the back with a side part in the front, which highlights her equally sophisticated black Basler gown.
