All the Best Oscars 2016 Afterparty Dress Changes

In the immortal words of R.Kelly, “after the party, it’s the afterparty,” which in terms of the Academy Awards really just means if you weren’t in love with your favorite celeb’s choice in Oscars gown the first time around, there’s a whole new chance for them to set things right and bring the glam at one of the hundreds of A-list Hollywood afterparties.

And boy, did they ever. At least 15 stars underwent a major wardrobe swap somewhere between the show and the Vanity Fair event, and dozens more brought their A-game to the afterparties, as seen here. But below, we picked a few of the most stunning style quick changes.

Jennifer Lawrence, for example, almost totally missed the red carpet at the Oscars, leaving us all trying to ogle her custom Dior gown every time the camera panned over her in the audience. But she was right on time for the after-show festivities, ditching the formal full skirt for something a little more streamlined and sexy. The actress’s second look was a very T.Swift-inspired ensemble consisting of a matching crop top and maxi skirt with a thigh-high slit with bar piercing details across the leg and bust.

Kerry Washington also brought some serious sexiness with her afterparty dress for the evening, not that her monochromatic Oscars Versace gown, with its leather bustier top and mile-long slit, wasn’t scintillating all on its own. For the Vanity Fair party, the Scandal star opted for something even racier, a sequin-encrusted white column gown with a plunging neckline and super low-cut open back, all held in place by some crucially positioned neon yellow strings.

Brie Larson, on the other hand, went for two very traditional red carpet gowns that were both super appropriate choices for a newly-minted Best Actress winner. On the awards show red carpet, the actress wore a diaphanous custom Gucci gown in navy with a flowing, ruffled skirt cinched at the waist with beaded floral embellishment. The winner then went on to celebrate in a baby pink one-shoulder velvet gown that looked like a dream for all of the photo ops, but was still light enough that Brie could easily dance the night away.

Rachel McAdams chose two very similar, yet equally gorgeous, slip dresses for Oscars night, kicking things off in a forest green silk gown with a very on-trend halter neckline, thigh-high slit and a long, cascading train. The actress then changed into an almost identical late night look, simply swapping out the halter for spaghetti straps, and the dark green for a beautiful sequined baby pink.

Alicia Vikander was giving us major Disney princess vibes in her first custom Louis Vuitton gown, even admitting her look was inspired by Belle from Beauty & the Beast. But to fete her big win for Supporting Actress, The Danish Girl star ditched the overtly girly glamour and went for a sleeker, more shimmery option. Alicia chose a simple, yet stunning, long-sleeved black sequin column gown with a plunging neckline paired with a simple Louis Vuitton chain necklace, and the ultimate accessory, one of those coveted golden statuettes.

Finally, Chrissy Teigen proved that pregnancy is no excuse not to look absolutely fabulous, bringing it on the red carpet in a form-fitting sheer Marchesa gown with an all-over burgundy beaded floral motif. As if finding one gown that perfectly covers your baby bump wasn’t enough, the soon-to-be mom stunned once again at the Vanity Fair after party, slicking back her messy up-do into a tight bun and ditching her filmy award show gown for a more sedate off-the-shoulder black sequin look.
