Alanis Morissette is a vocal advocate for attachment parenting, the school of child-rearing that involves wearing your baby around in a sling 24/7, co-sleeping, and breast-feeding until the kid weans himself. The nanny Morissette paid $25 an hour to care for her son, Ever, on tour, however, was less into it. Bianco Cambeiro is suing the singer, TMZ reports, for $30,000 in unpaid overtime wages and $100,000 in damages. According to the suit, Cambeiro was “effectively held hostage” inside the baby’s bedroom for the entirety of her twelve-hour night shift, and was not permitted to take meal breaks unless the parents or day-shift nanny were in the room. When both nannies inquired about overtime pay, the family accountant allegedly told them they "don't do that." But such is the cost of raising a child who feels utterly secure in the world, apparently: being physically close to him at all times or paying someone else to be. The Morissette-Treadways can take the settlement cash out of the well-adjusted little guy’s therapy fund.
