The holidays are here and many of you may already be preparing for all the festivities – in addition to everything else on your to-do list this month. The best thing about holiday parties is deciding what to wear to them. Here are a few outfit ideas to save you some time so you can worry about more important things like making sure that recipe is perfect for the office cookie swap.
The Office Party
Outfit Idea: Silk blouse, black pencil skirt, beige pumps, envelope clutch
You want to look polished and professional whenever your peers are involved. This isn’t the time to wear a revealing top or that short leather skirt you’ve been dying to wear. Holiday parties are a great opportunity to get to know the people you work with on a personal level in a more relaxed environment. Wear something that you feel comfortable in and can relax while you network and chat with your co-workers. A nice pencil skirt and a silk blouse makes your outfit look dressy but not over-the-top. A nice statement necklace or bracelet will effortlessly show off your style.
Family Get-Togethers
Outfit Idea: Jeans, cute holiday sweater, boots
The best thing about this kind of gathering is that you don’t necessarily have to go that extra mile to impress anyone. However, it is nice to have family members who haven’t seen you in a while compliment you on your recent weight loss or tell you how great you look in that cute dress you bought at Zara. Your goal is to be laid-back and be able to take in those moments of laughter, hear new stories and make great memories with those that matter most in your life.
Fancy Gatherings
Outfit Idea: Sequin Dress, statement earrings (or necklace), clutch, pumps
This is the moment to pull out all your best threads and strut your stuff. For those of you who want to be a little more daring or want to mix things up a little, consider wearing something not so traditional for the holidays like an awesome pantsuit, a huge sparkly cocktail ring or an edgy clutch. Wear something that makes you feel like a million bucks because, why not? You’ve been saving your stuff for a special occasion and what better occasion than the present? If you want to lean towards a more traditional holiday color palette but still want to stand out, try a cute cocktail dress in a bold color like gold or red. Make sure to balance it all out with more muted accessories and makeup, you don’t want to compete with the Christmas tree for attention.
